A song by a Morecambe pop band has been played on TV soap Coronation Street.

‘Absolved’ by The Heartbreaks was playing on the Rovers Return pub jukebox in scenes featuring characters Tyrone, Fiz, Gary and Alya during Monday night’s second episode of the ITV soap.

The track, released as a single last year, was on the group’s second album ‘We May Yet Stand A Chance’.

It caused a stir in 2014 when radio DJ Steve Lamacq said he’d resign unless it was played on BBC6 Music.

The Heartbreaks – Matthew Whitehouse, Ryan Wallace, Joseph Kondras and Chris ‘Deaks’ Deakin – are currently taking a break from recording and performing as a band.

Ryan recently became head barber at the new Temperance Club retro barber shop on Morecambe seafront while Matthew is working for fashion magazine i-D in London.
