MORECAMBE has an unlikely new answer to the King of Rock n’ Roll – television antiques expert Paul Hayes.
The Cash in the Attic presenter has joined a rock band and will pay tribute to Elvis Presley at a gig in the resort this Friday (April 29).
The aptly-named Paul Hayes and The Cats From The Attic will perform at a night of rock ‘n’ roll nostalgia at the Park Hotel on Regent Road.
Paul, who also hosts BBC1 shows Car Booty and Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is, has long been a fan of ’50s rock stars like the King, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis – famed for his song Great Balls of Fire.
And, following a recent trip to Elvis’ home of Memphis, Paul – the recent winner of The Visitor’s Morecambe Ambassador Award – was inspired to pick up a microphone and emulate his heroes.
“I’ve no experience of singing apart from one karaoke song in the ’90s,” said Paul, who lives on Balmoral Road.
