Mermaid in Morecambe

editorial image

A WASHED UP mermaid ends up in a washed up sideshow, the last resort of a drink-addled clown and his foul-mouthed daughter.

And as the fortunes of the British seaside decline, the troupe is forced into increasingly outrageous and demeaning public performances, while alcoholism, drug addiction and sheer desperation tighten their grip. And the jokes come thick and fast.

This happens in Captain Murderer and the Morecambe Mermaid – a pitch-black musical comedy exploring the history and real hard lives of fairground freaks.

This fast-moving parade of puppets and masks will be performed in The Round at The Dukes in Lancaster from September 1 to 3.

Tickets are priced £10, concessions £2 off and standing tickets £5. Recommended for ages 16 and over.
