Police were called around 5.10pm to Quay Meadow, off St George’s Quay, following reports of a fight in an alleyway.

Two men aged 21 and 22 were found by officers with facial injuries.

It is believed the pair had been attacked by a larger group of men who then made off from the scene.

Both victims were taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary by paramedics for treatment.

Detectives are appealing for information following the attack and are keen to trace a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the assault.

Det Insp Phil Jones, of Lancaster CID, said: “It is believed the offenders have made off in a white van, with orange chevrons down the side, towards Cable Street.

“The injuries to both men are yet to be confirmed but while they are not described as life-threatening, they are believed to have sustained bruising and swelling to their faces and heads having been repeatedly kicked while lying on the ground.

“If you recognise the van described or saw the incident, please contact us immediately.”
