Man sought by British Transport Police after fence damaged at Morecambe railway crossing

British Transport Police want to trace a man captured on CCTV after fencing was damaged at a railway foot crossing in Morecambe.

The fencing was damaged at Schola Green Lane whilst it was closed for upgrading.

Investigating officer PC Gez Cooper said: “Maintenance work was being carried out at the crossing at the time and closure signs were in place regarding diversions.

“A man approached the crossing and ignored the signs and in the process of using the crossing damaged fencing that was on hire to Network Rail.

“He also attempted to smash the padlock that secured the fencing.”

The incident took place at 7.30pm on Wednesday, January 13.
