A STUDENT has been banned from Lancaster, Lancaster University and all public transport after he was charged with six counts of sexual assault on a female.
The restrictions were imposed on Egyptian national Sherif Elsayed, 32, who had been living at the university’s Bailrigg campus, as part of his bail conditions after he appeared before Preston magistrates on Saturday.
The charges follow a police appeal in the Lancaster Guardian following two indecent assaults on Lancaster University students on buses in the city.
The first happened on Thursday, November 3 on the 5.10pm number 3 bus between Common Garden Street and the university.
The second took place on Thursday, November 10, again at around 5.10pm, but this time on the 2A service, also running towards the university.
Both women were able to move away from the offender and get off at the next available bus stop.
Elsayed is normally a student at Chester University and has been bailed to an address in Chester, where he must also report to the police station daily under the terms of his bail.
He will appear before Lancaster magistrates on January 27, 2012, for committal to Preston Crown Court.
