A man was arrested after a fire broke out in a house in Lancaster.

Emergency services were called to a terraced property in Lune Road at about 8.10pm on Monday.

Crews from three fire engines tackled the blaze in a first floor bedroom, using four breathing apparatus and a hose reel.

After searching the property, firefighters discovered there was nobody inside.

Police said a man, who lived in the house, had set fire to curtains and then “ran off”, before being tracked down by police.
