A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “The traffic light junction of the store is unaffected by the road works and our access open as normal. Specific dates over the five week period will affect the petrol station and cause two to three day closures – the dates are highlighted by posters.”

The Lancaster Road closure coincides with other separate road works in the area.

The M6 Junction 34 northbound on-slip road is closed until 6am on Monday, August 1 for building of the new northbound on-slip road as part of the new ‘Bay Gateway’ Heysham to M6 link road.

The northbound off-slip road is also closed from 8pm to 6am every night until Friday, July 29.

This closure is to allow verge drainage works on the northbound off slip.

Work is also continuing on Morecambe Road near the McDonald’s drive through as part of the Bay Gateway.

Meanwhile a road closure is planned on Marine Road Central from August 23 until November 23, 75m either side of the Euston Road junction for a new road crossing to be installed.

Marine Road is also currently down to one traffic lane near Victoria Parade for the ongoing work to rebuild the sea wall.
