The dish is part of a series of unique food offerings by virgin Trains, which are designed to surprise customers travelling in First Class.

The Cumberland Sausage Casserole is made with sausages from Althams Butchers, an independent, family-owned butcher in Morecambe – just a few miles from the West Coast Mainline.

Virgin Trains has been working with Althams Butchers for a number of years and the Lancashire business currently supply bacon, sausages and black pudding for the breakfast offering in First Class on board Virgin Trains West Coast services.

David Winter, Catering Product Manager at Virgin Trains on the West Coast, said: “At Virgin Trains we always look to champion local produce where we can and British Sausage Week has given us a great reason to do this once again. We’re happy to be working with Althams Butchers to delight our customers with our Cumberland Sausage Casserole and are sure the dish will prove really popular.”

The Cumberland Sausage Casserole is available on board until Friday November 4.
