Lifesaving bid by school
Various fundraising events have been held in school in a bid to raise the £1,200 needed to pay for the device and its casing, which is to be fitted in the school grounds.
School head Adrian Ibison said the school has worked closely with The ADAM Appeal in Garstang, which provides defibrillators around the region.

“We were also approached about two years ago by a local doctor who believes in the need for them being around.
“We decided that we would work towards raising funds for a defibrillator, and so we got in touch with The ADAM Appeal.
“They were delighted because there is a shortage of defibs in Carnforth.”

The school is now running training courses for staff and governors and will then be offering similar training to parents and the wider community.
It is hoped that Key Stage 2 children (those in the juniors) will also have the opportunity to learn how to use the defibrillator.
Although the charity fundraises and pays for the defibrillators itself, it was decided in school that they would aim to raise the money to repay the appeal for their device.
