The launch of Healthwatch Lancashire, an independent consumer champion, took place recently at the University of Central Lancashire in Preston.

The delegates, who included mayors from ten of Lancashire’s boroughs and leaders of many organisations and communities working in health and social care, watched a short film which set out Healthwatch Lancashire’s remit, which is to bring about improvements in health and social care services and to help people access the services they need. *Staff from Lancaster and Morecambe College held their annual ‘Personal Development Day’. As well as focusing on themselves, some staff members chose to help the community by volunteering at St Johns Hospice for the day.

A team of seven staff led by Roy Douglas, a Construction and Engineering lecturer, spent the day at the hospice, which has received funding to create a Garden of Memories.
