So it’s goodbye to the Ranch House and hello to The Exchange.
Licensees Rob and Debbie Ellershaw announced the name of their new pub as the doors closed on the popular Ranch House bar after years of happy memories for them and customers alike.
The Ranch House went out with a bang as it was packed to the rafters for one last party weekend.
Now husband and wife team Rob and Debbie, and their staff, are working round the clock to open their new bar The Exchange on nearby Regent Road.
Mr Ellershaw, who was landlord at the Ranch for 16 years, said he aimed to open The Exchange - formerly the Imperial – this coming Friday morning (February 5) at 11am.
The Ellershaws bought the closed-down Imperial because they had to vacate the Ranch to make way for the new Bay Shopping Park.
Work is due to begin on the £17m retail park, on the site of the former Frontierland fairground, later this year.
The Ranch House, previously known as the Casino before its Wild West makeover in 1987, will be replaced by a Brewers Fayre pub-restaurant and a Premier Inn hotel.
A full weekend of live music marked the final days of the Ranch House. Friday night’s gig included an unadvertised one-off set by The Bottlenecks, as well as King Suckerman, Philip James Turner and the Crow Mandala, Dom Clayton and Fuse. Solid Silver played on Saturday night and the final gig at the Ranch came from The Reggie Mental Band on Sunday.
