Dog lovers are in for a treat next weekend as CancerCare hosts Bark in the Park in Lancaster.
Williamson Park will welcome the four-legged friends in a super hero themed sponsored dog walk to help raise vital funds for support families affected by cancer.
The event on Sunday March 13 also includes a fun dog show, a fun agility course for dogs, and a free doggie goody bag.
This year’s event has the added twist of an optional ‘super hero’ fancy dress theme for the dog and owner. Dog show categories will include Best Super Hero, Best Biscuit Catcher, Best Haircut, Best Rescue, Waggiest Tail and Best in Show.
The G-Whizz Agility Course will also be available and agility trainer Sue Parry will be holding demonstrations from 12noon with the chance for you and your dog to take part in the 15 minute taster session.
A special prize – a photo shoot for you and your pet with Sue Milligan Photography – will be given to the person raising the most sponsorship for CancerCare.
Other activities include free micro-chipping for dogs from event sponsor Lanes Vets, animal cakes, a lucky dip, face painting, goody bags, colouring and much more. Animal Care from Lancaster will be doing a ‘Meet and Greet’ for rescue dogs that need rehoming and there will be a CancerCare raffle.
Event organiser Helen Hartin from CancerCare said: “Is your dog a superhero? This is your chance to show it – it’s a really fun day out with your dog and there’s lots going on. Enjoy a really good day out with your dog whilst raising money for the local cancer support services provided by CancerCare.”
Registration for the walk and show opens at 12noon till 12.45pm, the show starts at 1pm with the walk at 2pm.
Entries will be limited on the day so register in advance at www.cancercare.org.uk or call 01524 381820 to secure a place.
