The opening of Lancaster’s Primark is a step nearer.
The new store has been handed over to the retailer following contruction work by Roubaix Group, the owner of Marketgate shopping centre.
Primark commenced fit-out in early April with works due to complete in early August.
The store is set to open its doors in Autumn 2016.
When it opens, the 45,000 sq ft Primark will be the largest store in Marketgate and the biggest anchor store in the city. Primark is expected to help drive increasing footfall into Marketgate and enhance Lancaster city centre’s overall shopping mix.
Chris Beckerman, managing director of Roubaix Group, said: “I’d like to thank shoppers and all of our neighbours for their patience and understanding while we have been doing this vital work.”
Bank of Scotland Commercial Banking’s real estate team provided funding to Roubaix Group to help deliver the investment and improvement plans
Alan Brennan, Relationship Director, Bank of Scotland Commercial Banking’s real estate team said: “Marketgate is an important part of the city’s retail offering that, with the help of our funding, Roubaix Group is strengthening through new investment. The arrival of Primark is testament to its ability to draw major brands to Lancaster.”
A Primark spokesperson said: “We look forward to opening a new Primark store in Lancaster in Autumn 2016 and offering amazing fashion at amazing prices for all the family.”
