Lancaster Mum’s leap of faith for MS battle

Rebecca Coldwell is determined to prove she can do any challenge since she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS) in December 2013.

There is no cure for MS and symptoms can include fatigue, vision problems and difficulties with walking, but it can be different for everyone.

For Rebecca fatigue is a big disruption to her daily routine when she is looking after her three daughters, Emily, 12, Hannah, nine and Annie-Rose, 4.

But the 39-year-old does not describe herself as a “sufferer” and wants to make the most of her time with her family.

Rebecca, who lives in Hest Bank, said: “The first thing I thought of when I was diagnosed was a wheelchair, that was frightening but obviously I came to accept it.

“I know there is no cure but at the end of the day I have got three children, I want to be able to enjoy them growing up.”

Rebecca will take part in the parachute jump in September at the Black Knights Parachute Centre in Cockerham to raise funds for the Neuro Drop in Centre based at Lancaster Farms on Stone Row Head, where she also volunteers.

The mum hopes to raise £2,000.
