Lancaster, Morecambe and Carnforth Remembrance Day services

Services have been arranged in the Lancaster district for this year’s Remembrance Sunday, which falls on November 8.

Everyone is welcome to go along to remember all who died for their country in the two World Wars and also those injured or traumatised by more recent operations in Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq.

Remembrance Day services will take place as follows:

Lancaster: Garden of Remembrance, Town Hall, starting at 10.25am, followed by a service in the Priory Church at 11.30am.

There will be a parade back to Lancaster Town Hall, ending with the mayor taking the salute on the steps at around 12.30pm.

Morecambe: Cenotaph, Marine Road. The parade will form up at the Platform at about 10.20am for a service and two minutes silence at the Cenotaph. The parade will then reform and march back to the Platform.

Morecambe Brass Band will also be on stage at the Platform performing their traditional Remembrance Concert on Saturday November 8.

Lancaster City Council has suspended parking charges on the car parks at the Bay 
Arena in Morecambe and Nelson Street in Lancaster on this day.

Carnforth: The parade will leave the Carnforth Council Offices at 10.35am for a service and wreath laying ceremony at the Cenotaph.

Scorton: As in previous years, ministers , their congregations and villagers will gather at the War Memorial at noon on Sunday for the service of remembrance. Everyone welcome.
