The Holiday Inn spent around £4m on repairs and refurbishment after floods caused extensive damage to the telephone, computer and internet systems, kitchen and offices, restaurant, health club and main events room The Halton Suite.

The Caton Road hotel had no choice but to shut down operations and cancel all bookings, as well as Christmas functions, from December 6 onwards.

But the Holiday Inn will now reopen on June 1 after a refurbishment and enlargement of the Halton Suite and revamp of the health club. All staff have kept their jobs.
