A Lancaster doctor has been honoured with a top award.
Dr Paul Tynan from King Street and the university medical practices has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP).
The fellowship is awarded in recognition of a significant contribution to medicine in general and to general practice.
DrTynan, said: “It was a bit of a shock but I am very proud. I do think that it is much more than a personal award. I am certain that it would not have been made without a fantastic and supportive team around me and in particular, the culture of learning and education that are embedded within King Street and University Medical Practice.”
The RCGP is a professional membership body and guardian of standards for family doctors in the UK, working to promote excellence in primary healthcare. Their awards recognise the contributions made by people working in general practice.
Dr Cliff Elley, a GP from King Street and the University Medical Practice, nominated Dr Tynan
He said: “Congratulations are due on a well-deserved award – and a suitable sign-off for King Street at the end of the month when members of staff come together to celebrate the last 90 years of King Street before it joins Lancaster Medical Practice in April.”
