Libraries in Carnforth, Bolton-le-Sands and Silverdale will light up blue to celebrate the NHS’ 70th birthday.

The three buildings will be lit up on the evening of Thursday July 5 to say happy birthday to the NHS and to recognise its special place in our lives.

County Hall in Preston and many other buildings across the North West will also be lit up for the occasion.
People are encouraged to take photos and share them via social media @NHSEnglandNorth using the hashtags: #NHS70 and #LightUpBlue.

As well as lighting up landmarks, events are being organised by and for staff, hospital trusts and healthcare organisations to mark the seventieth birthday in style.

Tea will be at the centre of many events as NHS organisations, as well as the general public, will be holding ‘NHS Big 7Tea’ celebrations.

The public can help directly by volunteering, supporting their local NHS charity or by giving blood.
