Morecambe’s motorbike legend switched on the Bare Christmas lights and then told a packed crowd he’s geared up for another crack at the TT races next year.
John McGuinness revealed he’s signed a contract extension to ride with Honda for another 12 months.
‘The Morecambe Missile’ inked the deal on Friday in a motorway service station, he told the crowd on Princes Crescent, as he switched on the village lights with help from daughter Maisie on Saturday afternoon.
John, 42, will be hoping to put an injury-hit 2014 behind him as he tries to narrow the gap on Joey Dunlop’s all-time record of 26 TT wins.
Despite breaking his wrist in a crash just prior to the Isle of Man event last May, our man still managed to notch his 21st career win at the iconic annual road race festival and remains second on the all-time list.
John was also assisted by Father Christmas and Susan Bray, Mayor of Bare, at the switch-on, which was hosted by Chris Reed, chairman of Bare Village Business Association, and attended by David Morris, MP for Morecambe and Lunesdale.
Villagers and visitors came out in force to sample the delights of street stalls and music from the Morecambe Road school choir.
