Lancastrians are being encouraged to recognise local healthcare professionals who have made a difference to their care and experience of mental health services.

National mental health charity Breakthrough has formed a collaborative to recognise and celebrate positive practice in mental healthcare across the country.

They have joined forces with a number of health trusts and organisations to deliver the Positive Practice in Mental Health Awards.

The awards consist of 15 categories which include Innovative Practice, Integrating Physical and Mental Healthcare and a Stamping out Stigma award which is sponsored by the national Time To Change anti-stigma campaign.

Lancashire’s leading healthcare provider Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust works closely with the Breakthrough charity.

Heather Tierney-Moore, Chief Executive at Lancashire Care NHS Foundation Trust, said: “It’s really important to recognise and share positive practice in mental health care in order to celebrate work that is being done well, and improve things that could be done better.

I would encourage members of the public who have had a positive experience of the Trust’s mental health services to make a nomination and celebrate positive practice in Lancashire.”
