A care home maintenance team manager has won a national award for his work.
David Ingle, from Laurel Bank care home in Lancaster, won the maintenance champion category in the Barchester Care Awards held in the grand surrounds of Coombe Abbey in Warwickshire.
Supported by other Barchester Care Award hopefuls, David enjoyed a three-course lunch while the winners of the 12 categories were read out and met with rounds of applause.
At Laurel Bank, David ensures that the home is consistently presented and maintained to an exemplary standard.
This is also partly down to his excellent maintenance documentation and department organisation.
Displaying great practical skill, leadership and innovation, David leads his team to deliver results that benefit both home and residents.
Ben Swire, Property Services Manager, said: “David is always ahead of his work.
“He is good at planning, co-ordinating and mainly achieving.
“His outlook to maintain the residents’ home and environment is second to none and he always includes them in his endeavours.
“David is proactive with activities and new ideas supporting his team members in all aspects of care home life.
“It is a privilege to have David on the maintenance team.”
Mel Thomas, general manager at the home, said: “David’s input at Laurel Bank has been immense over the years and he continues to maintain such a high standard in the home.
“As well as doing his job very well he contributes to the atmosphere in the home.
“He is often chatting to residents, helping them maintain hobbies and interests.”
Residents’ relatives, volunteers, healthcare professionals as well as colleagues and residents cast votes for their chosen nominees.
