Work will begin in summer 2018, with the first homes completed in spring 2019.

Story Homes will make a financial contribution of around £300,000 towards increasing the number of primary school places available in the local area and £16,000 towards making improvements to the playing field at Halton Community Centre.

The development will benefit from pedestrian improvements and works to increase highway safety on Low Road and improvements to bus stops on High Road.

New pedestrian links will be created between the village and the River Lune.

Story Homes’ Land and Planning Associate Martin Nugent, said: “We are delighted to have received the backing from Lancaster City Council in respect to our planned development of 76 new homes at Low Road, Halton.

“We are excited about the prospect of bringing forward our third development in Lancaster.

“We have worked closely with local stakeholders and the council to ensure the scheme has been extremely well thought out and is not only high-quality, but will also complement the existing character of the area.”

Lancaster City council has identified Halton as a ‘sustainable rural village’ in their existing Development Plan, and as a ‘sustainable settlement’ in their emerging plan for the district.

Public open space, biodiversity enhancements and boundary planting are also offered as part of an attractive and well connected proposal.
