Grants up for grabs from Morecambe Town Council

Community groups from across the resort have applied for grants from Morecambe Town Council.

The town council has available funds from its Miscellaneous Grants budget for organisations, community groups and individuals whose activities are of direct benefit to the residents of Morecambe and who wish to be considered for a grant.

Applicants can apply for a grant of up to £500.

Red Rose Community Centre, which houses Coastal Boxing Club, on West End Road, Morecambe, has applied for the maximum amount for new artificial turf.

Materials to raise flower beds so the disabled and the elderly can join in with gardening are also on the agenda.

Heysham’s Four Seasons Community Allotments have asked for £500 towards materials which can be used on their new allotments.

Morecambe’s Royal British Legion has also applied for the maximum £500 grant to go towards a band and Public Liability Insurance for the Armed Forces Day parade. If granted £500, community church West End Impact will put their money towards a disabled toilet and baby changing facility.

Morecambe’s Merchant Navy Association has asked for a £400 grant to buy equipment and a Branch Standard, the flag which represents services to God, Queen and country.

Westgate Cricket Club has also applied for the full amount.

A meeting will be held tonight, Tuesday, at 7pm, at St Martin’s, Westgate, to decide upon each of the grants from the different organisations.
