A LANCASTER GP had a birthday to remember when he returned from Afghanistan on the day he turned 57.

Colonel Robin Jackson, based at the Rosebank Medical Practice on Ashton Road, Lancaster returned on Monday after spending four months at the British Military Hospital in Camp Bastion.

The stint at the Camp Bastion hospital brought to an end his three-and-a-half-year spell as commanding officer of 207 Manchester Field Hospital, which is made up of 44 Territorial Army volunteers.
