Paul Sandham was just 29 when he was killed by Terry Clifton.

Paul, who lived at Church Brow in Bolton-le-Sands with his wife Susan, was buried at Holy Trinity Church in the village.

Born in High Bentham, Paul went to primary school there until he was eight, when the family – parents Joan and Ron, brother Colin and sister Diane – moved to Heysham and Paul attended Sandylands Primary School and then Heysham High.

Growing up, Paul was an air cadet with Morecambe and Heysham 455 Squadron of the Air Training Corps.

At 19 he joined the RAF, becoming a radar technician based in Weston-super-Mare before moving to a base in Scarborough, where he met his wife.

Six years before his death, Paul had been diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Just weeks before he was killed, he had been told the cancer was in check.

Susan moved back to her home town of Scarborough following Paul’s death.
