Fundraising night of music to support Nepal earthquake victims

A fundraising event is being held at Borwick Hall this weekend to help people affected by the Nepal earthquake.

Natalie Wilson is a freelance outdoor instructor and expedition leader and regularly works in the Himalayas in Nepal leading treks, particularly in the Kanchenjunga region and the Everest region.

Also a music lover, Natalie decided to combine her two passions in order to raise money for The Juniper Trust and their work in Nepal and also local initiatives in Nepal supporting those who have suffered from the recent earthquakes. ]

Natalie, who is 39 and lives in Lancaster, said: “I have met some wonderful people through my travels in Nepal and I want to support those affected as much as possible.

“Nepal is a poor country and many people are still living in temporary tarpaulin shelters as their homes have been destroyed.

“Once the monsoon season is over it will start to get colder and conditions will become even more difficult.”

The event will be held at Borwick Hall, Borwick, near Carnforth, on Saturday August 29 from 2.30pm, where there will be an open mic session in the Baronial Hall with PA, guitar and piano available.

Later on into the evening there will be a range of other music including some great vinyl reggae, world music and more, finishing at 11.30pm.

Food and a bar will be available throughout the day. The cost for music and food is £10.

There will also be an opportunity to sign up for some outdoor activities in the afternoon such as high ropes (£10 pp) or canoeing (£15 pp) including instruction and equipment.

There is plenty of parking available, please use the main car park on Borwick Lane and check in at reception.

The following day, Sunday August 30, there is a caving day taking place, meeting at Borwick Hall at 9am.

The cost is £30 pp with all proceeds going to The Juniper Trust and local initiatives and includes instruction, all equipment and transport to and from Yorkshire.

No previous experience required, just take a packed lunch and change of clothes. Places are limited so please call to book 07986 679829.
