The X Factor is over for another year.
Some of you may be breathing a sigh of relief, while fansmay be interested to know that Morecambe has its own Christmas link to the TV talent show.
That’s because a former X Factor finalist is appearing in panto at The Platform.
Chris Maloney, who came third in 2012, stars as Prince Charming in the family show Cinderella starting on Tuesday, December 30.
The Liverpudlian, mentored by Gary Barlow, was a controversial figure in The X Factor series two years ago.
Maloney’s performances were derided by critics and other judges, but he was popular with viewers and ended up finishing only behind Jahmene Douglas and winner James Arthur.
Chris gained a spot in the live finals of The X Factor as a wild card and was known for his nervous disposition, which he was able to conquer to belt out big ballads.
The former call centre worker managed to win the public vote on the majority of the shows against all the odds.
Today he runs a theatre school on his native Merseyside and has supported Jane McDonald on her UK tour.
The cast also includes Reeve Douglas (Denzil in BBC’s Waterloo Road) as Buttons.
Performances are on Tuesday, December 30 at 2pm, Wednesday, December 31 at 1pm, Friday, January 2 at 2pm, Saturday, January 3 at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday January 4 at 2pm.
Tickets cost £8 adults, £7 concessions, £26 family (2+2).
