An actor turned ‘foodie’ proved there is life after Corrie when he visited Sunderland Point for a TV cooking show.

Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt in Coronation Street, went fishing in Morecambe Bay for his new Channel 5 programme The Great Northern Cookbook.

Sean met up with Sunderland Point residents Margaret and Trevor Owen and then hosted a ‘fishy barbecue’ in the village.

The episode of the ‘Hairy Bikers’-style show was shown on Thursday night and also included Sean and his team breaking the world record for cooking the largest Cumberland sausage in Broughton-in-Furness, Cumbria.

Sean’s Coronation Street character was married to Gail McIntyre, played by ex-Morecambe resident Helen Worth. He left the soap in 2005 and has since set up his own cheese-making company.
