Flowers to remember the fallen

Owners of ceramic poppies from the Tower of London display gathered at Morecambe’s War Memorial to remember the brave men and women who never returned from World War One.

After receiving their ceramic poppies Councillor Margaret Pattison and Councillor Ron Sands thought up an idea of gathering together other ceramic poppy owners for a mass photo to reunite the poppies at Morecambe War Memorial the Sunday before Christmas to mark the end of Centenary year World War One and remember the brave men and women who never returned.

There have been over 800.000 poppies designed and no two are the same so it was nice to see thirteen Ceramic Poppy owners and members of the public at Morecambe War Memorial.

Rev Linda McCluskie from St Johns Church Sandylands said some words of remembrance and after a two minute silence the bugle was played which was very moving.

There is a Facebook page called Ceramic Poppy Owners if anyone would like to join.
