Five new books with a Morecambe link

THE GHOST OF BOWNESS by MJ Evans

Morecambe author M J Evans has brought out his third crime novel about the disappearance of a young girl.

The plot sees friends of a young girl called Tara, who mysteriously went missing 10 years ago, hire PI Jordan Lewis to investigate her disappearance.

The gripping mystery and detective novel is set in Bowness-on-Windermere in Cumbria.

After having spinal surgery in 2010, Martin Evans was unable to work a physical job and decided to finally fulfil his dream of writing. He now writes full time.

His first novel, The Corpse that Danced, was published by The Book Guild in 2014. He then published To Dig up a Murder in 2015.

V4 VENGEANCE by Nigel Seed

Nigel was born in Morecambe and now lives in Spain. A veteran of many years in the British Army working with the Army’s helicopters, he joined the Civil Service before taking early retirement and moving to a villa in Spain.

In V4 Vengeance, recently discharged Royal Engineer Jim Wilson takes on an impossible challenge with the help of his former army mates, Ivan and Geordie.

Hired by a Russian museum, they are sent to the Baltic coast of Germany to find a rumored World War II U Boat base. Their discovery is beyond shocking.

This is the first of a series, the next three being released at intervals during 2016.

THAT’S IT by Brian Thomas

‘That’s It’ is described as an amusing and whimsical memoir loosely based upon a working life of both part-time and career jobs.

When speaking of his title, Brian said: “Everyone has some sort of life and it isn’t all boring and mundane, it can be amusing, interesting even exciting! Anyone reading ‘That’s It’ might laugh or wince or nod (in agreement rather than in sleep) and some will say: “I can do that”.

Published by Austin Macauley, the book was released on July 29.

FEEL by Jenn Ashworth

Published by Sceptre, Feel is about a sick, girl, a faith healer, the woman the girl grew into, the spirits of her parents and unfinished business. It was chosen by The Guardian as part of the newspaper’s summer reads and is set on the edge of Morecambe Bay. Author Jenn Ashworth lectures in creative writing at Lancaster University.

PATHWAYS by Anne Gaelan

Morecambe writer Anne’s first collection of poems will be published by London Poetry Books at the end of August. She will be reading a selection of her work at Paper Tiger Poetry at the Tea House Theatre on August 19. The poems are based around the theme of journey.
