A man who became ill whilst fishing on the shore near Whinnysty Lane, in Heysham, was rescued by crews at the RNLI.
The man, his wife and ambulance crew had to be rescued by Morecambe’s RNLI volunteer inshore hovercraft at around 12.20pm on Saturday (October 22).
North West Ambulance crew had gone to help the elderly man but realised it was too muddy to safely carry him to shore.
Crews got everyone to the station slipway, near the Midland Hotel where the man was transferred to an ambulance.
Morecambe Deputy Launching Authority Colin Midwinter, said: “Morecambe Coastguard, North West Ambulance Service and our RNLI volunteer crew working together as a team, enabled the casualty to be quickly transported ashore to receive further medical treatment.”
