First phase of £5m Lancaster sports centre revamp completed
The £5m refurb of a sports centre is hitting the heights thanks to the opening of a new indoor climbing wall and play area for kids.
The new three floor soft play area with slides and obstacles, cafe and climbing facility is now open at Salt Ayre.
This is the first phase of a major upgrade of the Lancaster City Council-owned Salt Ayre into a centre of excellence for sport and recreation.

Future phases of the project will include an upgrade to the fitness suite with 100 stations and a new immersive spinning studio, an outdoor 20 metre high ‘thrill tower’, refurbished changing rooms and a spa.
