Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at Lancaster Town Hall.

Fire crews and police were called to the Dalton Square building just after 9.30pm on Saturday, following reports of smoke coming from the roof.

Firefighters from Lancaster fire station checked the building and found the boiler had switched on because of a drop in temperature, and so steam could be seen coming from the boiler flue.

There was no fire.
