Explore the Lakes on two wheels

WE’RE extremely lucky in the North West to have easy access to spectacular mountainous landscapes but there are more ways to explore than on foot.

Exploring on two wheels can be just as satisfying as tramping up a fell – and you can cover a much greater distance.

Sparky’s friend and old workmate, Ian Boydon from Lancaster, has produced a marvellous guide to some of the region’s most amazing mountain biking routes.

Mountain Biking in the Lake District is a great read. I had no idea there were so many wonderful tracks to explore so close to home.

The book describes 24 original routes divided into short, medium, long and full-day loops.

Ian has spent the last 17 years mountain biking in this area and has worked out routes to suit people of all levels of experience so the book is packed full of useful information.
