Eric Morecambe painting to help raise cash for Morecambe Carnival

A portrait of Eric Morecambe will be the star lot at an auction to raise funds for Morecambe Carnival.

The limited edition print of the famous comedian was painted by artist Rob Newbiggin and will be up for grabs at the Carnival Casino night on Saturday, March 5 at the Globe Arena. The print is signed by Eric’s widow Joan, son Gary, daughter Gail and the artist.

Mr Newbiggin was commissioned by David Brayshaw, chairman of the carnival organising committee, to paint our Eric.

The original painting is on display in Morecambe Town Hall.

Morecambe Carnival will be selling a limited number of prints of the portrait shortly afterthe casino night with all proceeds going towards the carnival.

This year’s carnival on April 30 and May 1, the third since its resurrection in 2014, will be headlined by live music from pop star and TV personality Alesha Dixon and pop band Scouting For Girls.

Tickets for the casino night cost £37/£340 for a table of 10.
