RATS living in the rock groynes on the promenade are multiplying fast and the problem is getting worse, according to a local resident.
Fisherman James Milner says that the city council seems to have no way of eradicating the problem and that he has seen dozens of rats running near The Midland hotel.
James, of Chatsworth Road, Morecambe, said: “Some years ago after the sea defence works were done at the Bare area of town it was reported that there was an infestation of rats in the rock groynes and many people had witnessed this.
“In the areas all along the sea front and stone jetty area as well as Sandylands and Heysham and the central area of the town there is an infestation.
“The council seems reluctant to face the fact that they have left many areas that are a perfect habitat for vermin and don’t seem to be willing to investigate the matter fully and come up with a solution.”
