Rats in McDonalds’ bushes

FAT rats are gorging on a diet of Big Macs, fries and other fast foods at McDonald’s in Morecambe.

Up to 30 obese rodents are feasting on scraps of food dropped in and around the car park at the drive-through takeaway and diner off Morecambe Road.

The Visitor went to McDonald’s on Friday afternoon following complaints from the public. In one hour, we counted and photographed eight of the portly pests in bushes bordering the busy car park.

Some of the rats were less than a metre away from cars full of children tucking into Happy Meals.

The bushes where the rats are living are also adjacent to Morecambe Road School for children with learning difficulties and a mixture of housing.

One Visitor reader, who asked not to be named, said there was an “infestation” of rats at the drive-through. He said he had complained to staff on Thursday and was told that traps had been set to catch the rats.
