SEVEN of Morecambe’s beaches have featured in the 2011 Good Beach Guide - although three of them have failed bathing quality standards.
Morecambe’s North and South beaches and those opposite the Clock Tower and Midland Hotel achieved a basic pass in the Marine Conservation Society (MCS) publication and are safe for bathing and paddling.
But Half Moon Bay beach at Heysham, the beach opposite West End Road and Heysham Sands were among those that failed, according to the MCS.
A Lancaster City Council spokeswoman said: “Both Morecambe North and Morecambe South beaches were recently awarded Quality Coast Awards.
“The water quality off these beaches meets European standards and the bay is enjoyed by thousands of people each year.
