Concern over timber in bay

A BOAT owner and fisherman has expressed his concern following a story in last week’s Visitor about a large piece of wooden “jetty” washed up in Morecambe Bay.

Martin Somers believes that it was probably a section of a rotting wooden pier extension from Heysham Harbour.

Heysham Port Authority said it does not belong to them.

But Mr Somers said: “I’m certain it’s part of an extension at the port. A friend of mine saw it at Half Moon Bay before it was seen at The Battery.

“The extension at the south side of Heysham Harbour entrance is falling to bits.”
