Entries now being accepted for popular 3 Bridges race

Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic Club are now accepting entries for their popular July midweek 10k race.

It can be enjoyed by beginners and experienced runners alike with a flat and scenic course.

The race is registered under UK Athletics rules, and a medal and refreshments are provided for all finishers.

It starts at 7.30 pm on Wednesday, July 25 from the Lancaster and Morecambe Athletic clubhouse next to Salt Ayre Leisure Centre.

There will be prizes for the first three men and three women, and prizes for each veteran category, from 35 for women and 40 for men.

The entry fee is £11 for runners already in running clubs (attached) and £13 for non-attached, with an additional £2 fee for entries on the evening of the race.

*It has been a very busy few weeks for the Lancaster runners, welcoming many new athletes to the club and with two huge local races where the team was out in impressive numbers, to runners at Levens, Blackpool and Catforth.

The Blackpool 10 miler saw Peter Lloyd continue his great form with a club record, setting a time of 69.28.

At the Morecambe 10k the Lancaster runners were the most represented club with 16 athletes all competing excellently and were led home by Peter Lloyd in 42:12. Next home were Robin Mitchell (43:16), Simon Russell (44:15) and Phillip Fawcett (45:37).

The week prior at the Hangman’s Noose 10k, 10 lancaster runners took on ‘The Hill’ to cross the finish line inside Lancaster Castle, Brett Fletcher leading the team across the line in a impressive 43:03. He was followed home by Richard Duncan (44:25), Philip Townley (44:41) and Mark Davey (50:22).

At the Levens 10k, Mark Davey was first home for the club in a time of 48:55, followed by Maureen Roberts (01.02.49).
