Dr Who fan exterminates the competition

A Doctor Who fan welcomed an unusual visitor to his Morecambe home when a life-size red, white and blue Dalek was delivered.

Len Simpson won the one-of-a-kind Dalek in a nationwide competition.

He said: “It was a complete shock to see the size of it, so at the moment it lives in the garage as it’s too big to fit in the house! All who see it are amazed.”

Strangely enough, this was not the first time Mr. Simpson had tried to get his hands on a life size Dalek: “When I was 10 I entered a competition in a comic called TV21 to win a Dalek, but I won the runners up prize and got a small one instead. This time I got the big one and don’t know what to do with it!”

Ian Clarke, Owner of This Planet Earth said “It was a pleasure to meet Len and deliver the Dalek to him.

“He was stunned by the quality and also had the toy which he brought in from another room.

“Len had entered the competition in TV21 children’s magazine in 1965 to Win A Dalek but only got one of the 450 consolation prizes.

“How ironic that he should enter another Win A Dalek competition almost 50 years later and actually win this time!”
