The next sessions at the centre on Caton Road are on Friday March 31, between 2.45pm and 4.45pm and 5.45pm and 7.45pm.

Amanda Eccles, Senior Marketing Coordinator at NHS Blood and Transplant said: “We will be back at the TA centre and are encouraging new donors to come forward and give blood.

“With Mother’s Day coming up we are encouraging people to think about other mothers and families in addition to their own.

“One blood donation can save or improve the lives of up to three people so donors really can make a huge difference each time they attend a session.

“Giving blood doesn’t take too long. It should take less than an hour from arriving at your appointment time to completing your donation. So please make the time to give blood, you never know whose life you could save.

“We particularly need more young people in Lancaster to start giving blood to replace those who can no longer donate, and to ensure we have the right mix of blood groups to match patient needs in the future.

“In particular we need more black and South Asian donors.”
