DJ addicted to gambling steals money from charity

A SERIOUS gambling addiction led a DJ to steal money raised at a charity Help for Heroes event that he had organised himself.

Lancaster Magistrates court also heard that while Christopher John England was working as a karaoke performer three nights a week, he was claiming income support to which he was not entitled.

Prosecuting, Tracy Yates said England organised the day and night event, held on September 26, himself and had received collection boxes and T-shirts from the charity.

The money raised, £2,700, was kept in the pub safe.
