Confusion surrounds the resignation of a Morecambe town councillor.

Barbara Barber, a Morecambe Bay Independent, sent a letter to the town council resigning.

But at Thursday night’s meeting of full council, chairman Darren Clifford said she had already ceased to be a councillor due to non-attendance at meetings for six months.

Former councillor Barber said in the letter that her resignation was due to town council-related events which had “a severe effect on my health”.

We have received a copy of her resignation letter but we cannot publish it in full for legal reasons.
