Emily Morris has brought out ‘Guardians of Time: Kids in America’ and hopes it will be the first in a series.

“It tells the story of a girl named Mary Lyon, who discovers on the 10th anniversary of her mother’s death that her mother wasn’t the ordinary working woman that Mary had thought she was.” said Emily, 33.

“I use Mary’s mother and father’s diary entries throughout the evolution of their relationship, and also have Mary’s first person point of view while reading them. She discovers a lot of unsettling things over the course of the novel, but comes to appreciate her mother even more.”

Emily has been writing for 20 years and studied at Edge Hill College in Ormskirk. She is a member of a creative writing group on West Street in Morecambe. Her next novel, The Outsider, will be largely based in Halton and Lancaster.
