Day to highlight child sex exploitation

A national day of awareness aimed at highlighting the issue of child sexual exploitation (CSE) was held in Lancashire.

Supported by Lancashire Police, CSE Awareness Day reminded the public and relevant agencies that we can all work together to inform, educate and prevent this form of abuse within the county.

Lancashire Constabulary has been recognised as one of the leading constabularies in the country for its approach to tackling child sexual exploitation and has been hailed as an example of best practice by the government.

Head of Lancashire’s Public Protection Unit Detective Superintendent Sue Cawley said: “CSE can affect young people from all social and ethnic backgrounds and takes place all over the country. Offenders come from many different backgrounds.

“They are abusing young people and are using their status to exploit vulnerable victims.”
