Now the Christmas period has come to an end it is time to dispose of your Christmas trees, what better way to do it than with St John’s Hospice.
The hospice are running tree collections on January 9, 10 and 11, for a suggested minimum donation of £5 per tree.
It is a great way to support the hospice and it saves you a messy journey to the tip to dispose of your tree.
The hospice will collect in the whole of the Morecambe and Lunesdale area.
For more information and to book a collection please call 01524 382538 or online www.sjhospice.org.uk/recycletrees.
On the Friday before Christmas you will know that I visited the site for the M6 Link in Halton.
I met with the site manager to discuss the progress of the project but I also met with the Morecambe Bay movie makers to participate in their documentary.
Morecambe Bay movie makers are documenting the build of the road by a series of monthly videos available on their website.
I introduced the latest video about last month’s progress.
These videos are extremely interesting as they go behind the scenes of the road build as each bridge and each piece of Tarmac is put down.
The videos can be accessed online at www.morecambebaymoviemakers.org.uk
I have also had a meeting with the Lancashire Enterprise Partnership regarding my idea for a tunnel under the Bay.
The first step is to conduct a feasibility study and the LEP will be writing to the Cabinet Office to apply to a fund which is set aside for projects such as this.
I will be following this application up with meetings with the Cabinet Office to ensure that the feasibility study is secured.
I believe that the tunnel under Morecambe Bay is the natural phase two for the M6 Link project and would open the whole area up to more jobs and investment.
