It was fantastic to see Eric back where he belongs on the promenade on Thursday.
Even though the weather was not brilliant it was great to see a crowd gathered to see Eric back on the promenade and also to greet his family.
On Thursday I welcomed Under Secretary of a State for Health Dr Dan Poulter MP to the area.
We first visited the Royal Lancaster Infirmary A&E department and Maternity unit and we then came into Morecambe to visit the same day health centre.
Dr Poulter MP visited the centre two years ago when he opened the centre, so this time he was able to speak to the staff and find out how care was being provided now the centre was properly up and running.
It was interesting to hear how initiatives such as the D-dimmer test were keeping patients out of hospital and treated in the community.
On Thursday evening I had the pleasure of attending Heysham High School’s version of We will Rock you.
I was really impressed by how professional the show was all the pupils and staff involved were a credit to the School.
Even Dr May sent a note of congratulations to the pupils taking part.
On Friday morning I visited the Royal Mail Delivery Office in Morecambe to see all of the Christmas post and parcels being sorted for the day ahead.
Thank you to all if the staff for showing me around the office and letting me see how all of the Mail is sorted into the correct streets for delivery.
On Friday I also visited Greatwood School, well done to the Year 6 boys who had organised a bake sale in school and who raised 130 pounds for Epilepsy action.
The most exciting event this week was the Morecambe vs Luton Town football match at the Globe.
The atmosphere was electric and the Shrimps did the town proud beating Luton Town 3-0 and getting to keep the Eric Morecambe Trophy.
