A few weeks ago I met Westgate resident Kevin Hyde, who told me of the road safety issues on Glentworth Road East.

Cars are parking on one side of the residential road continuously which is narrowing the street, this is made more dangerous by the speed the cars are travelling down the road.

I am currently collecting signatures with Kevin on a petition which I will be presenting to Parliament in October to put pressure on Lancashire County Council to act.

Please contact my office on 01524 841225 if you would like to add your name to the petition for traffic calming measures to make the area safer.

You may recall that Damian Green MP visited White Lund recently to see the great work that is being done by the police and businesses to reduce crime on White Lund.

Local businesses have paid for a CCTV system which the police have found very effective at fighting crime locally.

I will soon be publishing a petition which will ask the Police and Crime Commissioner for Lancashire to invest some of his budget into buying more CCTV cameras.

This will also be an opportunity to promote the system and make more businesses aware of the benefits to businesses on White Lund in the hope that more businesses will contribute.

I am pleased that the Prime Minister has announced that there will be a pilot of placing age ratings on music videos.

This is something that I support and have been campaigning for.

The pilot will begin in October and has the support of the music industry.

Those watching music videos on websites such as YouTube will be advised of the age rating before the video can be viewed.

My survey is currently being distributed all over the constituency.

If you haven’t received your copy yet, please contact me via my website www.davidmorrismp.co.uk and I will send you a copy in the post.

The survey is also available online. It only takes a few minutes to complete so please take a look at www.letdavidknow.co.uk.
